Why Cambridge

Cambridge International Examinations prepare school students for life, helping them develop an informed curiosity and a lasting passion for learning. We are part of Cambridge Assessment, a department of the University of Cambridge. Our international qualifications are recognized by the world’s best universities and employers, giving students a wide range of options in their education and career.

Cambridge IGCSE

The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is an English language-based examination like GCSE and is recognized in the United Kingdom as being equivalent to the GCSE for the purposes of recognizing prior attainment.

It was developed by University of Cambridge International Examinations. The examination boards Edexcel and OxfordAQA also offer their own versions of International GCSEs.

The qualifications are based on individual subjects of study, which means that one receives an “IGCSE” qualification for each subject one takes. Typical “core” subjects for IGCSE candidates include a First Language, Second Language, Mathematics and one or more subjects in the Sciences.

The Cambridge IGCSE curriculum offers a variety of routes for learners with a wide range of abilities, including those whose first language is not English. For learners, Cambridge IGCSE helps improve performance by developing skills in creative thinking, enquiry and problem solving.

In addition to it, every term two summative assessments will be conducted. These tests will be of short duration basing on the currently taught topics/ concepts. These assessments will carry 10% weight towards the final progress report. SAs will be conducted by the subject teacher on a scheduled date. Syllabus for these examinations will be announced well in advance. Our main aim is to have a continuous learning and assessing system in place.

In the final term third summative will be conducted and the end of year assessment will be the final assessment of the year. It is a formal assessment where all components of a subject will be evaluated.

In the final report card 10% from each summative and 70% from the final assessment will make up the End of Year report for the student.

What beyond CAIE?

After finishing secondary education in CAIE, most students opt for IB, International Baccalaureate, a Diploma Program offered by IBO. IB Students are the ones who, through their international mindedness and cultural understanding, make the world a better place. IB learners strive to become inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced and reflective. These attributes stand for a broad range of human capacities and responsibilities that go beyond intellectual development and academic success.

Many students feel confident to accept this transition as they are aware of independent learning, doing research work for their internal project activities and doing fearless subject presentations, and many more.

External assessment of CAIE remains very fair and challenging as all components of a subject are evaluated individually. When a student sits for an international board, they compete with the world. The level of confidence makes them feel capable to face the challenges set by IB.
