KiiT International School offers the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) programme to students in Grades 9 and 10. In Grades 6, 7 and 8, the children follow the Cambridge Lower Secondary Pathway. Our IGCSE curriculum sets clear goals for learners in the form of external examinations held every May/June at KiiT International School, and for teachers in the form of professional development opportunities within India and abroad. These reliable and rigorous standards ensure a high-quality education is maintained. KiiT International School is the only authorized examination centre in the state of Odisha.
Upon completion of the course, students could achieve the prestigious Cambridge ICE (International Certificate of Education Award).
Cambridge International Examinations prepare school students for life, helping them develop an informed curiosity and a lasting passion for learning. We are part of Cambridge Assessment, a department of the University of Cambridge. Our international qualifications are recognized by the world’s best universities and employers, giving students a wide range of options in their education and career.
The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is an English language-based examination like GCSE and is recognized in the United Kingdom as being equivalent to the GCSE for the purposes of recognizing prior attainment.
It was developed by University of Cambridge International Examinations. The examination boards Edexcel and OxfordAQA also offer their own versions of International GCSEs.
The qualifications are based on individual subjects of study, which means that one receives an “IGCSE” qualification for each subject one takes. Typical “core” subjects for IGCSE candidates include a First Language, Second Language, Mathematics and one or more subjects in the Sciences.
The Cambridge IGCSE curriculum offers a variety of routes for learners with a wide range of abilities, including those whose first language is not English. For learners, Cambridge IGCSE helps improve performance by developing skills in creative thinking, enquiry and problem solving.
Has worldwide recognition and is equivalent to the Certificate of Secondary Education from Indian education boards, General Certificate of Secondary Education, and ‘O’ Level. It offers syllabi which reflect local economies and cultures within a global context, hence ensuring that students gain a wide perspective while recognizing and valuing their own environment.
Cambridge IGCSE is the world’s most popular international qualification and has been designed especially for an international audience.
With its 70 subjects, available in any combination and including more than 30 languages, the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum offers a variety of routes for learners with a wide range of abilities, including those whose first language is not English. It develops learner knowledge, understanding and skills in:
– to prepare school students for life, helping them develop an informed curiosity and a lasting passion for learning.
– to promote critical thinking, creativity, and a global view.
– We believe education works best when curriculum, teaching, learning, and assessment align.
– Our approach helps learners and teachers to become confident, responsible, reflective, innovative, and engaged.
– We encourage teachers to actively engage students in their learning. We offer professional development and teaching resources to help them do this.
– Learners and schools can trust our assessments – they are fair, valid, and dependable.
– We believe assessment should support learning, so we assess the areas we know are most valuable in preparing students for the future – like deep knowledge, conceptual understanding, and higher-order thinking skills.
– All of our assessments are accessible and fair to students whose first language is not English.
Our programmes are recognized and valued by universities all around the world. Students can be confident that their qualifications will be valued throughout their education and career, both in their home country and internationally.
Our global community is made up of more than 10 000 schools in over 160 countries.
The curriculum sets clear learning objectives and focuses on developing knowledge and skills in all subjects, giving children an excellent foundation for the next stage of education. It is flexible.
Subjects offered by us: (From Grade 6 to 8)
Formative assessments will be continuously held by every subject teacher across the academic session. The subject teacher will share feedback continuously.
In addition to it, every term two summative assessments will be conducted. These tests will be of short duration basing on the currently taught topics/ concepts. These assessments will carry 10% weight towards the final progress report. SAs will be conducted by the subject teacher on a scheduled date. Syllabus for these examinations will be announced well in advance. Our main aim is to have a continuous learning and assessing system in place.
In the final term third summative will be conducted and the end of year assessment will be the final assessment of the year. It is a formal assessment where all components of a subject will be evaluated.
In the final report card 10% from each summative and 70% from the final assessment will make up the End of Year report for the student.

After finishing secondary education in CAIE, most students opt for IB, International Baccalaureate, a Diploma Program offered by IBO. IB Students are the ones who, through their international mindedness and cultural understanding, make the world a better place. IB learners strive to become inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced and reflective. These attributes stand for a broad range of human capacities and responsibilities that go beyond intellectual development and academic success.
Many students feel confident to accept this transition as they are aware of independent learning, doing research work for their internal project activities and doing fearless subject presentations, and many more.
External assessment of CAIE remains very fair and challenging as all components of a subject are evaluated individually. When a student sits for an international board, they compete with the world. The level of confidence makes them feel capable to face the challenges set by IB.
