National Unity Day or Rashtriya Ekta Diwas is observed on 31st October as it “will provide an opportunity to re-affirm the inherent strength and resilience of our nation to withstand the actual and potential threats to the unity, integrity and security of our country.” Sardar Vallabhai Patel, the first home minister of India was born on this day. As home minister, his biggest contribution was the unification of India and accession of the princely states to the territory of India. The nation observes his birthday befittingly as National Unity Day.
Students of KiiT International School spoke about the great freedom fighter as one of the tallest leaders of independent India during the school assembly today as part of the National Unity Day observation. They pledged to uphold the unity and integrity of the motherland. It was a beautiful tribute to the great Sardar Vallabhai Patel and to this great country, India.
